Freshwater Watch
FreshWater Watch, run by Earthwatch Europe, is a global citizen science project for the collection of water quality data in rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, and wetlands.
Community groups and research partners across the world collect the same core measurements (nitrate, phosphate, turbidity, and various visual indicators) and upload them to a global online platform. This generates new local information and robust data, which is used to inform scientific research and environmental action by Earthwatch scientists and partners worldwide.
Data collection started in 2012, and ten years on, over 34,000 datasets have been collected globally.
