Counting the Earth Podcast

The UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (UKCEH) produces a monthly podcast, Counting the Earth, which explores the numbers behind nature. It was fantastic to have the Riverfly Partnership featured on their most recent episode ‘Reflections on our Rivers: 14’ —the ‘14’ referring to the statistic that 14% of rivers in England are rated as being in good ecological health.

Many thanks to Anna Forbes from Action for the River Kennet, who took Counting the Earth presenter Alice down to the river for a kick sample and explanation of how citizen scientists are monitoring rivers all over the country. The episode also featured conversations with UKCEH’s Dr Mike Bowes and Dr Eleanor Mackay about the state of England’s rivers and how they are monitored.
