Amorous Gammarus on the move!

British Fly Fair 2022 (12th -13th February)

Stuart Crofts and Arron Watson once again admirably represented the Riverfly Partnership at the 2022 British Fly Fair at the Staffordshire Ground.

The stand was busy for the whole weekend. Visitors enjoyed Stuart and Arron’s enthusiasm and knowledge of entomology and Riverfly! A real dynamic duo!

FBA Executive Director, Simon Johnson helped to man the stand on the Saturday. It was a great opportunity for him to hear firsthand about people’s experiences of the Partnership, their thoughts on freshwater citizen science and the state of their rivers.

Those visiting the stand were treated to a tank of invertebrates showing what to expect from a healthy beck or river. The activities of the ‘amorous Gammarus’ were the subject of much interest and comment!  The stand also promoted the entire portfolio of Riverfly activities and there was a high degree of interest in the new Extended scheme.
